Canvas Nation is an online destination for original artwork inspired by buildings of New York City and other urban places. We aim to provide a seamless experience for art enthusiasts to explore, share and purchase unique pieces that resonate with the vibrancy of urban art. Join us on this creative journey and immerse yourself in the captivating world of street art.
The Canvas Nation's first projects are impressions captured from plaques laid into the ground on the streets close to Grand Central Station. These beautiful plaques are tributes to the iconic buildings that make New York City so evocative. The impressions are produced on large sheets (25" x 37" of very thin Thai paper with graphite markers.
-
The bronze plaques were conceived and sponsored by the Grand Central Partnership and H.J. Kalikow & Co. who owns the property, and were installed in 1996
-
The plaques were designed and created by Gregg LeFevre with assistance by James Owens
-
Gregg LeFevre has created over 120 site specific public art works in cast metal that provide insight about the nature and character of particular places.
-
The bronze plaques reestablish the link between the city and the ‘Architects Building’ that once stood on this site
